They could have even made Yazawa's illustration lgarer and filling up the right edge. It'd cut off some of her shirt, but since the face is the real focus, I don't think it'd detract from it in any way. Then they'd be able to move it down, reveal more of the logo, and shift around some of the text so perhaps it didn't look so busy. There are also a lot of minor alignment issues that are getting to me, that I'm sure nobody else will notice, such as Get Gorgeous and Manga Style no lining up, or forgeting to extend 100 Pages of the Hit Series all the way across the top of Nana. The slight white drop shadow makes it a little more difficult to read, too, though they did it to try and pop it out against the yellow of the girl's shirt. They also could have adjusted the height of the text in a couple of places since they pretty much used the same font on the entire cover except for the logo. Even a couple of lowercase phrases rather than all capitals would help a lot.A general rule of thumb for picking cover font colors is to pick similar colors from the main image rather than contrasting colors. The text should complement the image, not clash with it. You also want to maintain consistent saturation. If the cover image is bright, choose bright colors. If it's subdued, choose more subtle colors. In this case we have a fuscia that's supersaturated next to a very dull orange and mid-range blue. That's why it clashes. . . . I used to design covers and directed the art department on magazine and catalog layout for my previous job . . . >_>; I'm pretty nitpicky. *lol*Not that I think the cover will actually have any impact on sales, though. It's not like it has to compete with any other girls' monthly comics anthologies. :D
